Martavius Parrish is a multi-faceted New York City-based Broadway creative.

As a Director, Martavius is currently working on Ragtime (starring Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Brandon Uranowitz) at New York City Center. He is also the Associate Director of Once Upon A Mattress currently running on Broadway, starring Sutton Foster and Michael Urie. Earlier this spring, he made his Off-Broadway directing debut with Lynn Nottage’s Fabulation or, The Re-Education of Undine at the esteemed and historic Billie Holiday Theatre in Brooklyn and was announced as a 2024 Drama League Directing Fellow. He was previously also Resident Associate Director for Into The Woods (working with a series of Broadway stars including Stephanie J. Block, Gavin Creel, Heather Headley, Sara Bareilles, Neil Patrick Harris, & Denee Benton), which was nominated for 6 Tony Awards, including Best Revival & Best Direction of a Musical. 

As a Performer, include Apprentice Scrooge in A Christmas Carol (ZACH), The Inheritance - Part I & II (ZACH Theatre), The Color Purple (Portland Center Stage), The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter (Arkansas Repertory Theatre), & Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Ogunquit Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse), as well as performances at Carnegie Hall, The Beacon Theatre, Yankee Stadium, Symphony Space, & 54 Below. 

As a Teaching Artist, he’s worked at The Lincoln Center & has conducted workshops with NYU & the Anna Maria College Music Department. Martavius is a proud Duke alum (holding a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience)  and also has a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance in Musical Theatre from NYU.
