Duke Players is the student organization in the Department of Theater Studies.
Its members support the Department's productions by running auditions and working on production crews, promoting participation in theater by all Duke students, and representing the interests of students who are involved in Theater Studies. Duke Players also produces one lab production each semester as well as an Orientation Show to acquaint incoming freshmen with the riches of theater at Duke.
Heathers: The Musical
Duke Players is performing Heathers: The Musical for our spring show! Get your scrunchies and stuff those shirts with shoulder pads because we’re going back to September 1, 1989. Heathers is an edgy and satiric musical about ~society~. There’s murder and sex and everything you could want from a show about teen angst bullshit. Content such as suicide, homophobia, and sexual assault are examined in the show as the popular kids slowly fall and a new rule takes over.
Initial auditions: January 19–22, 6–10 p.m.
Callbacks: January 23, 1–5 pm
April 7–9 at 8 p.m. | April 10 at 2 p.m.
Tickets not required. Seating will be first come, first served
All Theater Studies majors and minors are automatically members of Duke Players. Any other student who has participated in two departmental productions (at least one of which is in a non-performance capacity) will be invited to become a member. Students involved in a production through a Theater Studies course which requires a production assignment may count that production toward membership.
