Bio

Bambi Linn is one of the most distinguished performers in the history of American musical theater, having performed in the original opening night companies of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s landmark shows Oklahoma! (1943) and Carousel (1945), in which she originated the role of Louise. A favorite dancer of Agnes DeMille, Linn would go on to perform in Eva Le Gallienne’s Alice in Wonderland,
Sally, Great to Be Alive!, I Can Get It For You Wholesale, as well as the film of Oklahoma!, in which she danced the famous Dream Ballet.

Bambi Linn will be in conversation with Professor Bradley Rogers on November 4th to touch on her work with a range of Broadway legends, including Rodgers & Hammerstein, Barbra Streisand, Agnes de Mille, John Raitt, Arthur Laurents, and Barbara Cook. As the last surviving cast member of the opening night company of Oklahoma!, Ms. Linn provides a truly unique connection to an extraordinary time in American culture.

Activity

Professor Rogers will host a conversation with Ms. Linn and his musical theater students in the East Duke Parlor on November 4 at 2:00pm. Following the talk, Ms. Linn’s husband, Joseph DeJesus, a famous ballroom dancer who trained with Marian Chace and who has taught for decades, will lead an introductory ballroom dance workshop.
