Career goals: I’ll spend the next year college advising in Durham while applying to medical school.

What brought you to Theater Studies? Theater has always been a large part of my identity. Being on stage and connecting with an audience is something I enjoy immensely. Especially during tough Duke semesters, assuming the psyche of a character and becoming an entirely new person can be such a necessary reprieve. Simultaneously, it's also an extremely interesting craft that can help develop skills in communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence.

Favorite memories: Some of my favorite memories as an undergraduate come from late nights in Marketplace with my friends, freshmen year O-week, Duke engage China, study abroad, and living off campus senior year.

What are you most proud of during your undergraduate years at Duke? I am most proud of the wide spectrum of activities I've had the opportunities to be a part of during my Duke experience. While 24 hours in a day never seemed to be enough, I can look back and know that I made time for the things that mattered to me the most.

Why do you think the arts are essential? The arts are more than the performance, the music, the costumes, and the rest of the perceptible elements that are enjoyed by audiences. The arts are about the process of creating. It is here where we learn about ourselves and the world around us. It is also about feeling that art elicits in observers and the conversation created around it. We are all who we are today largely due to art.
