Elise Gutierrez is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana graduating with a double major in Psychology and Theater Studies. She entered Duke with the intention of minoring in Theater Studies but after taking her first acting class, fell in love with the department and decided to pursue the major. Elise has been in two Theater Studies mainstage shows as a chorus member in Medea (Spring 2021) and Agnes in She Kills Monsters (Fall 2022). Additionally, she is involved with Duke Players as their publicity chair and has performed in Playhouse Shorts the past three semesters. Elise is incredibly grateful for her experience with Duke Theater and plans to take what she has learned with her in everything she does. Following this summer when Elise will attend the Atlantic Acting School's summer intensive, generously funded by the department's Forlines Grant, she plans to continue her acting journey due to the inspiration and encouragement by the incredible faculty and fellow students here at Duke.
