Martavius Parrish was born in Portsmouth, VA and grew up in Valdosta, GA. He graduated from Duke with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2014, where he also minored in Theatre. He went on to attend New York University, where he graduated with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance in Musical Theatre. His favorite credits have included Aida (Mereb), Ragtime (Coalhouse Walker Jr.) and Spring Awakening (Hanschen) at Duke as well as The Grand Hotel (Jimmy Brother), Kiss Me Kate (Gremio) and Hairspray at NYU.
Martavius has had the pleasure of performing at Yankee Stadium and The Beacon Theatre (just weeks before this past year’s Tony Awards). Shortly after graduation, he landed his first professional gig in the regional premiere of Priscilla Queen of the Desert at the esteemed Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine.
