Claire Florian is Managing Director of ABT Studio Company, the second company of American Ballet Theatre, which seeks to develop the next generation of ballet dancers, choreographers, and audiences. ABT Studio Company serves as a crucial vehicle for dancers transitioning from student to professional performer; 80% of current American Ballet Theatre dancers are alumni of ABT Studio Company. As a platform for new choreography, ABT Studio Company commissions emerging and/or established choreographers to create new works each season. ABT Studio Company engages the broadest possible audience by performing classical, neoclassical and contemporary repertoire in a range of venues around the globe. Prior to joining American Ballet Theatre, Claire was Senior Manager of the David Geffen Hall capital campaign at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. She held several other roles during her time at Lincoln Center: as Manager for Lincoln Center International, the performing arts center's consulting arm; as Coordinator for Lincoln Center's capital campaign to reimagine the campus; and on the Strategy and Business Development team. Before her time at Lincoln Center, Claire completed a fellowship in the casting department at Playwrights Horizons. Claire currently serves as a volunteer for PAWS NY, which provides services to vulnerable New Yorkers who need support caring for their pets due to physical and financial obstacles. She has served as Co-Chair of the Junior Board of Opening Act, which provides free, after-school theater programs for New York City's most under-served public schools, and as Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the DukeNY Women's Forum.
