The Theater Studies department is proud to announce the reading of senior distinction candidate Morgan Fears' autobiographical screenplay Daddy Issued, Saturday March 2 at 7:00pm in Brody Theater (Branson building, East campus.)
In the tradition of developing works-in-progress, the director Tara Maier and the cast members are handling Morgan's changes in the script as they rehearse. Hearing their script interpreted by actors creates important feedback for writers in terms of what reaches an audience and what needs work. The cast includes Elizabeth Bueti, Stephen Garrett, Merle Merlin, Elizabeth Ratliff, Andrew Spafford and Tori Trimm, with stage manager Ian Holtz. The project has developed under the guidance of Theater Studies professors Neal Bell and Jody McAuliffe.
This project marks the culmination of Morgan's student work at Duke which has included writing for Me Too Monologues, writing and performing an original piece for Solo Performance class, performing lead roles in three Duke Players shows, and somehow finding time for internships with Di Bonaventura Pictures in LA, JACK in New York, and The Civilians investigative theater company!
We hope you can be part of the process by attending, giving feedback, and enjoying the post-show reception!
