Tony Award-winning Broadway star Victoria Clark directs this workshop presentation of Love Life, a vaudeville in two acts with music and lyrics by Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner. Staged very simply, the witty and innovative musical uses vaudeville-style side acts to comment on the main story of one family’s turbulent (and magically non-aging) progression through 150 years of American history. Students in Professor Bradley Rogers’ Musical Theater Workshop class have worked intensively throughout the semester with artist-in-residence Clark, bringing life to her fresh vision of this rarely-performed gem.
"Love Life is the most intelligent and adult musical yet offered on the American stage . . . a sheer delight . . . Alan Jay Lerner's book and lyrics represent a sharp advance over any work he has yet done for the theater. Kurt Weill has written a knowing and a glowing score."
