Exit the King

Exit the King
Spring, 2009
Written By: Eugene Ionesco
Directed By: Ellen Hemphill

Exit the King, directed by Ellen Hemphill, theater studies faculty member, ran April 2-11, 2009 in Sheafer Theater at Duke University. World-renowned puppeteer Basil Twist designed puppets to “animate the space” along with the student actors, and Allison Leyton-Brown composed music for the production. Exit the King is considered a classic example of theater of the absurd and is the story of a megalomaniacal ruler, King Berenger, whose incompetence has left his country in shambles.
