New Works in Process Workshop - First Deadline Oct. 17!

The New Works in Process Workshop is back! Professors Neal Bell and Jeff Storer are resurrecting this once popular course.

Writers are asked to submit scripts that, if chosen, will be developed in the class, by Friday, October 17.

Students who take the course will form a theatrical “company” to develop new works for the stage. Participants - actors, directors, writers, designers, stage managers and producers - will focus on the art of collaboration, and they will do so by engaging in discussions, assigned readings, exercises and presentations of new student work. All participants, over the course of the semester, will stretch themselves beyond their particular theatrical focus by working in the other creative roles: writers will act, actors will direct, designers will write, etc.

Calendar for the course:

Oct 17 All submissions due (this is the Friday following Fall Break)
Oct 17-27 A reading committee will read all submissions.
Oct 27 Plays to be developed in the workshop will be announced and made
available to interested participants.
Nov 3-5 Auditions and interviews for actors, directors, writers, designers, stage
managers and producers (This is before registration.)

New Works in Process Workshop WILL NOT conflict with Senior TS distinction projects or the TS mainstage
production of ENRON. Students who wish to be involved, but cannot take the course, may participate but
must be available for all classes and performances.

Scripts should be submitted digitally by October 17 to both Neal and Jeff (jim3chance@aol.com and jmsheepdog@gmail.com). Either professor can be contacted with questions about becoming involved in this course.

New Works in Process Workshop (ALP) THEATRST 356 will meet Monday/Wednesday 3:05-4:35 Spring Semester 2015
