Summer 2014 - Michael graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in May of this year. He graduated in the top 10% of his class, and was awarded membership to Alpha Omega Alpha, one of the highest honors a student is eligible for during his or her four years of medical school. He also won three other awards: The Seymour L. Kaplan Scholarship, awarded for academic achievement and excellence in citizenship, The Donald M. Palatucci Prize, awarded to a fourth year medical student in the top third of his class who demonstrates kindness, humor, compassion, candor, and zest for life in his interaction with patients, and The Joseph Collins Foundation Scholarship, "for demonstration of outstanding contribution to cultural pursuits." In March, he married Emily Christine Case, also a 2014 graduate of Columbia P&S. Dr. and Dr. Ayers will both be starting residency in Internal Medicine at University of Pennsylvannia Hospital in Philadelphia this June.
Summer 2013 - Michael Ayers (T’07) is graduating from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in April of 2014, and applying for an internal medicine residency. He was named Joseph Collins scholar for outstanding academics in a student with significant ongoing contributions to the arts and will be Bobby Strong in fall production of Urinetown in NYC. He continues to study voice at Matt Farnsworth Studios in NYC.
Summer 2012 - Ayers is a third year medical student at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in NYC. He is a recipient of the Joseph Collins Scholarship for students who excel in artistic or cultural pursuits. He performed on an AEA guest contract as Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in NYC this fall.
Spring 2011 - Ayers received a scholarship to Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He still is finding time to perform, however, starring as Bobby Child in a production of Crazy for You in NYC last fall. He will also be acting in a production of A Winter's Tale this spring.
Spring 2009 - Ayers will be Bobby Pepper in Chicago’s first production of Kander and Ebb’s Curtains The Musical at the Drury Lane Theatre.
Summer 2007 - Ayers is performing as Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie and as one of the three performers in Complete History of America Abridged with the Mcleod Summer Playhouse in Carbondale, Ill. He will be returning to Duke to dance with the Duke Dance Department in November Dances and the Ballet School of Chapel Hill on scholarship until December. Then in December he will begin a 10-month acting contract with The B Street Theatre of Sacramento.
