Michelle Larsen

Michelle is a Biology and Theater Studies double major, with a minor in German, and hails from Sumner, Washington. She recently completed her honors thesis in the Department of Biology. During her time at Duke, she’s enjoyed participating in productions with Hoof ‘n’ Horn, singing in the Music Ministry at the Duke Catholic Center, and working at the Lemur Center. She’s worked on different tech and production crews for many Hoof ‘n’ Horn productions, including, Violet, The Producers, Company, In the Heights, and The Wiz. She was the stage manager for Hoof ’n’ Horn’s production of Cabaret last fall, and was the assistant stage manager for The Roadkill Club with Duke Players.

“Some of my favorite memories at Duke have been working on the various productions I’ve been a part of. I really liked sitting up in the booth calling cues for Cabaret. Some other favorites have been my time working at the Duke Lemur Center and getting to learn from the technicians there.”

She’s interested in a career in conservation biology, but is still deciding whether that will mean working in research, in a zoo or wildlife sanctuary, or something else entirely. Michelle would like to thank her parents, sister, dogs, cats, and alpacas for supporting her in all her academic and extracurricular endeavors. “My theater education has taught me how to be a well-rounded individual and has allowed me to learn about and try different creative pursuits, while also pursuing my biology degree—and it’s been a lot of fun.”
